I owe a lot to George Lucas

I love this blog.

It's been pretty great to me over this last year or so in my life. When I first made it, it was specifically meant to host my pictures. Hence the name. But when I left for Australia it became a journal for one of the most influential experiences of my life. In fact, I would really encourage anyone who's interested to go through some recent posts and read about what God has shown me of His own character through experiences.

However, the time has come to go back to our origins and once again take on the form of a photo blog.

(For any of my followers who are interested, I host another blog about what I call The Elijah Project. It's a year of praying, listening, and responding to the voice of God. Check it out at http://www.365elijahproject.blogspot.com)

So without further ado, let me introduce to you:

My Best Friend

Michelle and I met when we were in 6th grade. We proudly claim the fact that it was none other than Star Wars that brought us together. Truly, it must have been the Divine hand of God that we found each other.

When we met, Michelle was a shy, introverted ballerina who loved riding horses and camping. You'd recognize her by the signature rosy red cheeks of a girl that is quick to embarrass. I was the over the top, overbearing tomboy that ignorantly knew nothing about the alternate world in which Michelle lived. Turns out you can both be feminine AND love adventure. Who know?

But somehow, whether it was our sense of humor, our love of dogs, or the fact that I don't scare easy (a skill any 11 year old girl needs when her best friend's dad pretends to light her hair on fire upon first meeting him), we clicked.

If it wasn't for the life and friendship of Michelle Goldman, I would not be anything like the person who I am today. Through the years, through ups and downs, through every good time and bad, we've walked through them together.

Today, at 21, Michelle is an amazing woman of God. She still dances, one of the most beautiful forms of worship I've ever experienced. She sketches, hikes, drinks tea, zip lines, plays piano, and loves disney movies so much, Walt Disney himself might see it as an obsession. She even dabbles in RPG's and DD with the rest of her family. (If you don't know what that is, it's probably best that you don't find out.)

Even though others may not see the shy, rosy cheeked little 11 year old that I first met, she's still there. Look through the mature smile, through the wisdom in her eyes that comes with beginning to gain life experience, and you'll see the glimmer of girlhood that she'll never outgrow.

Michelle is the closest I'll ever come to having a sister. Quite honestly, I don't think I could choose a better one, whether by blood or by choice. I wouldn't trade her for the world.

Proverbs 17:17 A friend loves at all times and a brother is born for adversity.
